Mayor of RochdaleThe Mayor of Rochdale (2003) is Councillor Sultan Ali. The Mayoress is his wife, Shamim Akhtar. Councillor Sultan Ali was born in Sahiwal, Pakistan. He has lived in Rochdale since 1970 and has been a member of the Council since 1996. In the past he has served on Housing and Recreation & Community Services committees and was Vice-Chair of the External Partnership Overview & Scrutiny Panel in 2002-03.
